Email the following information to the Chief Returning Officer (cro at
torfree.net) before the day of the AGM:
- Your full name (eg John Smith).
- An affirmation that you are at least 18 years old and that you are
not currently bankrupt ("I solemnly declare that I have reached the
age of 18 years and that I have no undischarged bankruptcies.").
This is required by TFN bylaw #1, paragraph 19.
- Your TFN username (eg aa123). If you do not have a TFN username,
you can still run but you must obtain one, by becoming a member,
at most within 10 days of becoming elected.
- An email address at which interested voters can contact you with
questions. This address will be published on the web, using
the format "username at domain" instead of "username@domain".
The former defeats some spammers. For email addresses @torfree.net,
the "at torfree.net" part will be omitted. This defeats all generic
- A URL at which you will post about yourself to inform voters
about you. If you are a member, you can just use your TFN webspace.
(eg: put your text in public_html/myblurb.txt under your home
directory. You can upload it via ftp to shell.torfree.net or via
Kermit from within lynx if you are a text-login user. For user aa123,
the URL for that page is: http://members.torfree.net/aa123/myblurb.txt
). If publishing your own text is impractical for you, just email
your text along with your other details, and a web page will be
created for it (but, then, you won't be able to update it yourself).
You will then be emailed, at the address which you gave, to confirm
that you were the one who sent the message and that you are indeed
standing for election. Once you respond, your details will be added
to the list of nominees.
Alternatively, bring this information in person to the CRO at the AGM.
Your details will be added to the online list of nominees, before online
voting begins the next day.
Candidates will have a chance to speak at the AGM and to answer in person
questions from members.
